A Tribal Sojourn

Chengdu is a preferred destination for many Tibetans and Yi due to its inclusive culture and prime location. The city's open and welcoming atmosphere, along with its status as a transportation hub in Southwest China, makes it convenient for their life and work.
“A Tribal Sojourn” narrates the life of a girl from Liangshan, Sichuan, as she resides in Chengdu. Despite retaining the accent and unique physical traits of her hometown, she exudes confidence, unafraid of her skin tone and freckles. She dons an outfit reminiscent of the Dai ethnic group, showcasing an appreciation for multiculturalism.
Book
This model is the daughter of my father's childhood friend, and there is an innate connection between us. Under the watchful eye of the camera, the girl displays a beauty that is unconventional, with her confidence and integration of multiculturalism. She does not feel constrained by her physical characteristics but remains calm and genuine, staying true to herself.
Attitude
The photographic work conveys profound contemplation on individual identity recognition within our community. I am reminded of childhood memories where elders would gather around a wooden stove in the courtyard, along with potatoes, and engage in discussions about self-identity and cultural heritage.
